Mile High Wrestling Club

About Us

Mile High Wrestling Club was founded in 2009. We are an open enrollment, year-round wrestling academy with the mission of developing elite level wrestlers within the state of Colorado. We offer a high level curriculum to both kids (ages 6-14) and high school wrestlers. We have locations in northern Denver, Aurora, and Highlands Ranch, making high level training accessible to the entire Denver Metro Area. Mile High Wrestling Club is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Each member of our coaching staff has wrestled at the college level or above.

We want to help young men to get better at the sport of wrestling, period. That is our first and foremost priority and the motivation behind all of our decisions. We are immensely proud of the state of Colorado, and we want to help build an environment that produces national competitors, and beyond. Sustained competitive athletes is not something that we believe we can accomplish by just teaching "wrestling moves". Sure, that would produce flair ups of great wrestlers, but it would not be consistent and it would not benefit the wrestling community in Colorado. We strongly believe that to be a successful wrestler, and to create an environment that continues to produce high level wrestlers, we need to teach the skills off of the mat that enable today's young athletes to be good people and teachers of tomorrow.

Wrestling is like no other sport out there, and that is a large part of what draws all of us to it. Because of it's individual nature wrestling is one of the best tools to learn the lessons of life. Obvious benefits are hard work, self motivation, discipline, etc. But the not so obvious benefits are the secret to many great wrestlers. Being a hard working person, having a realistic perspective of what wrestling is and where it fits in to our lives, and living a disciplined life are all very important things to being able to consistently compete at the highest levels. The benefits to wrestling are fantastic, and the proper perspective brings the fun back in to a sport that can sometimes be hard. But the benefits once an athlete's career is done are invaluable. Anybody involved in the sport can attest to it's ability to teach these lessons, and us coaches at MHWC consider teaching these lessons equally as important to our vision as anything else.

MHWC provides the opportunity for high level wrestlers to train together, in an environment that is uncompromisingly centered around the principles mentioned above. We don't tolerate lazy behavior, we don't tolerate arrogance, and we don't tolerate anybody who distracts others from living a good life.

An athlete also has the opportunity to train with coaches and current wrestlers who have been or are currently on the national and international scene. There is a culture specific to wrestling among the best in the country. Learning this culture at a young age is privilege that most kids in the country don't have. We hope to help build an environment for young wrestlers in Colorado to be competitive, and exposure to the culture and the mindset of the best in the sport is a large part of building that environment.

In the future we hope that wrestlers who have gone through the experience of college and international wrestling come back to Colorado and continue the cycle, as is done in many other parts of the country. Colorado is on the brink of becoming one of the best wrestling states in the country, and along with all of the great coaches in this state, we hope to build Colorado as one of the dominant western states, and among top national states.
